The landscapes range from rigorous mountains, inclines brushed with greenery to seemingly endless majestic mesas. The East Mountains areas have quick access to both Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Albuquerque is located on the west side of the Sandia Mountains less than an hour from the East Mountains areas. Homes are found on larger lots with equestrian ranches and estates available. The East Mountains is also home to one of the nations top golf courses, Paa-Ko Ridge. I have paraphrased a brief synopsis of the East Mountains' history here for you: In the late 1800’s, gold, silver, lead and coal, zinc and turquoise mining centered in Golden, Cerrillos and Madrid catalyzed growth in the East Mountains. Outlaws and confederate solders were known to hide out in the area. When the last mine shut down in 1950, the area all but died. In the early 1970’s, artists and craftspeople arrived, converting old company stores and houses into quality shops and galleries. The history and culture of the areas roots can be found the historic mining museum. Now alive with arts, crafts, music, museums and restaurants, the East Mountains is a picturesque reminder of the old west. Request my Free Rio Rancho, Corrales and Albuquerque Relocation Package.
